In order to loose weight, you probably have tried to combine diet and exercises. But in some cases, the diet or the workout will not help you to burn fat because there might be a problem with one hormone in your body called leptin.

This hormone is produced mainly by adipocytes (fat cells) and it is involved in regulation of body fat. That means that the main function of leptin is to balance your body weight and energy levels. Leptin interacts with areas of the brain that control hunger and behavior and signals that the body has had enough to eat.

The more weight you have, the more your body releases this hormone. So if there is a problem with the function of leptin, it will not create a balance and it will not stimulate fatty tissue to burn excess fat. Leptin resistance is when your leptin is high, which means that your brain can not see that you are putting up some extra weight.

What the Leptin Resistance means?

If your leptin is at high level for a longer period of time the body will lose the sensitivity to leptin. What makes losing weight so hard is that when leptin resistance happens, your brain will not listen to the leptin and with that you will not stop eating. Never reduce your calories intake drastically if you suffer from this condition because that becomes a problem – it tells the brain that it needs more food.
